Russian drone strikes on Kyiv on the morning of Sept. 2 injured at least seven people, damaged a medical facility in Shevchenkivskyi district, and caused a fire at an educational institution in Holosiivskyi district. These attacks occurred amid a seventh consecutive day of near-uninterrupted Russian assaults on the Ukrainian capital. Two doctors were among the injured and hospitalized, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The fire at the educational facility came one day after the start of the new school year for thousands of Ukrainian children.
Earlier, on the morning of Sept. 2, Russian attacks overnight had already injured at least two people, according to Timur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. On the night of Sept. 1, at least 12 people were killed and 21 others injured in Kyiv and the surrounding oblast due to a Russian ballistic missile attack combined with a days-long drone barrage.
In a separate, large-scale aerial attack overnight on Nov. 13-14, Russia battered Kyiv with hundreds of drones and multiple missiles, resulting in at least seven deaths and 29 injuries. Nine of the injured, including a pregnant woman and two children, were hospitalized. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attack as 'wicked,' noting the use of approximately 430 drones and 18 missiles. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko later revised the death toll to six. Explosions were reported across multiple districts, with residential buildings being struck. Natalia Khodymchuk, widow of Valerii Khodymchuk, died from injuries sustained when a drone struck her apartment building. Power outages affected several districts, and Ukraine's Ministry of Energy reported damage to energy facilities, including a distribution network and a water pipeline at a thermal power plant in Kyiv Oblast.
On the night of May 6-7, 2025, a Russian attack on Kyiv involving four ballistic missiles and 142 drones killed two people and injured eight, including four children. Debris struck a nine-story building in Sviatoshynskyy District, causing a fire. Drone debris also fell in Solomianskyy District, and a drone crashed into a high-rise building in Dniprovskyy district. In Shevchenkivskyy district, two bodies were found during firefighting operations after drone debris hit a five-story building.
