India Begins Long-Delayed Census to Count 1.4 Billion People
India has commenced its decennial census, a long-delayed exercise to count its estimated 1.4 billion people. The process, which began in five states and three federal territories, involves over 3 million officials visiting every household and utilizes a mobile app and online portal for data collection. The census will also include a caste count.
