Adobe has launched its Premiere video editing software for Android devices, bringing powerful editing capabilities and generative AI tools to a wider audience. The app, which was previously released for Apple devices, is available for free and does not require a Creative Cloud subscription for its core editing functions.

The Android version of Premiere can handle multiple high-bitrate 4K clips, though processing new video tracks may take up to a minute. Exporting is also not instantaneous but is reported to be faster than expected on devices like the Pixel. A three-minute 4K60 video in high-quality mode took approximately three minutes to export.

The app is designed to work on Android devices with at least 5GB of RAM. For users who require more advanced features, the full desktop version of Premiere remains an option, though it is not compatible with Googlebook laptops.

Beyond standard editing, Premiere for Android incorporates generative AI tools, including image-to-video and text-to-video capabilities. These features utilize models such as Adobe's Firefly, Google's Veo and Omni, Luma Ray, and Kling. Free users receive 250 monthly AI credits, which can be used for generating clips. Additional credits can be obtained through a subscription costing $70 per year or $8 per month for 1,200 credits.
