The update prioritizes ease of app discovery and installation. F-Droid now offers a vast array of categories, including specialized niches like firewalls, password managers, and VPNs, all accessible via the search tab. Higher-level categories are also featured on the main Discover page. Search functionality has been enhanced to include app descriptions, broadening the scope beyond just app names.
Installation has also been simplified. Previously, users had to download an APK, open it, and navigate a security warning for sideloaded apps.
