YouTube unveiled a new AI-powered conversational video editing tool at its Made On YouTube event on Wednesday. The feature allows creators to refine both long- and short-form video content by issuing natural language commands through a chat interface.
During a demonstration, YouTuber Happy Kelli showcased how the tool could select the best take for each outfit in a dance video, add accompanying music and transitions, and insert text overlays. She described the tool as a "collaborative partner that edits with you, not for you," emphasizing that creators can still manually adjust edits in the timeline if needed.
The conversational editing tool is designed to speed up the often time-consuming video editing process. YouTube stated that the feature will be integrated into YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app, with availability expected in early 2027.
