Sleep tech company Eight Sleep on Wednesday launched its new Pod 6 device, featuring a smaller footprint to accommodate more bed frames and solo sizes for individual use. The company stated the device offers 20% faster temperature adjustments compared to its predecessor. The new Pod 6 boasts a 50% smaller footprint, allowing it to fit most bed frames, and incorporates nine times more sensors for granular temperature control for each user, even when sleeping close together. It can also differentiate and ignore data from pets or children sharing the bed.
The Pod 6 is available globally starting at $1,999 for solo sizes, which fit Twin beds and one side of larger beds, and $2,699 for standard sizes in Queen, King, and California King dimensions. The device is compatible with existing Eight Sleep accessories.
Beyond its consumer products, Eight Sleep is seeking FDA approval to market its Pod as a regulated medical device for sleep apnea in the U.S. Earlier this year, the company secured $50 million in funding from Tether at a $1.5 billion valuation. Eight Sleep has also expanded its international presence, launching in China, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Singapore over the past year, with China emerging as a significant growth market. Matteo Franceschetti, CEO of Eight Sleep, noted that international markets account for over 30% of the company's revenue and indicated plans for further expansion in Asia and Latin America. Franceschetti also acknowledged potential supply chain challenges due to high demand for electronic components from AI companies, stating that Eight Sleep is adjusting its supply chain to mitigate any impact on pricing.
