Amazon has launched a new agentic artificial intelligence service, named "workflows," aimed at third-party sellers on its e-commerce platform. This service is designed to automate various tasks, including inventory management and pricing adjustments, with minimal human intervention. The tool is free and optional for sellers, allowing them to customize recommendations and integrate with their existing AI solutions. Agents are seen as a key growth area in AI due to their ability to perform multiple actions autonomously. The new service can continuously monitor prompts, such as sudden declines in seller ratings or pricing for specific products. Amazon's Seller Assistant platform will store each seller's profile to provide personalized recommendations for pricing, promotions, and inventory. The agent can also connect to third-party AI tools, initially through Amazon's Quick and Anthropic's Claude services. Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon's vice president of worldwide selling experience, stated that the new agent will be free and optional, and sellers can control the amount of personal data shared. The Seller Assistant, first launched in 2023, has been enhanced with agentic capabilities, enabling it to reason, plan, and act on behalf of sellers with their permission. It has rolled out to over 90% of Amazon's selling partners globally and has hundreds of thousands of active users, with sellers accepting recommendations over 90% of the time. The updated Seller Assistant now features persistent memory of sellers' pricing patterns, inventory cycles, and growth goals, and can reason across domains, remember context, and act. Amazon has collaborated with AWS and Anthropic, utilizing foundation models and Amazon's commerce expertise, with Seller Assistant built on Amazon Bedrock with Anthropic's Claude models. Seller data is kept within Amazon's infrastructure and is not shared externally.
