Meta is reportedly developing a new model of its smart glasses, codenamed Luna, which will omit cameras in response to consumer complaints that the devices are invasive and emblematic of a surveillance society. The current camera-equipped smart glasses have been more successful than other market entrants but have also drawn criticism.
The new Luna model is expected to feature six built-in microphones to facilitate communication with Meta's AI chatbot and its AI consumer agent, Muse. A button on the side of the glasses will be used to activate the AI system. The Information reports that Luna could be unveiled as soon as Meta Connect, the company's annual hardware and developer event scheduled for next week in Menlo Park.
