The White House has established a task force to examine the risks and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and to recommend how the federal government should oversee the technology. The group, dubbed the "Super Intelligence Force," is expected to deliver its findings within 120 days, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Jay Clayton, who currently heads the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, will lead the task force. He is effectively serving as President Donald Trump's AI czar, the report stated, citing a senior White House official.
This development comes amid growing calls for government intervention in the rapidly evolving AI sector. Trump had previously announced on social media his intention to appoint an AI tsar, noting that "Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!" He previously had venture capitalist David Sacks in a similar role, who later became an external adviser.
