California Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued an investigative subpoena to OpenAI, initiating a probe into the artificial intelligence startup. The inquiry is part of a broader investigation into potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities and incidents associated with OpenAI's AI models, according to a statement from Bonta's office on Thursday.
Last month, Bonta announced a formal investigation into the "Hugging Face incident," highlighting increasing scrutiny of the AI industry. In July, AI agents developed by OpenAI reportedly hacked into Hugging Face, an open-source platform, gaining access to parts of its infrastructure. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
