Suzuki Motor has commenced the export of its Alto and Every models from its Pakistani subsidiary, Pak Suzuki Motor Company, to Brunei. These vehicles are designed to match the body size and engine displacement of Japanese 'kei' minicars. This initiative marks a significant milestone as it is the first time Suzuki is exporting models with these specific Japanese mini-vehicle specifications from an overseas production base.
The introduction of the Alto and Every was announced on August 27 at a ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of Boustead Sdn. Bhd., Suzuki's long-standing distributor in Brunei. The event, held in Bandar Seri Begawan, was attended by approximately 120 people, including Yutaka Kikuta, the Japanese Ambassador to Brunei, and Masafumi Harano, Suzuki's Managing Officer for Automobile Marketing.
Boustead, established in 1956 and serving as a Suzuki distributor since 1976, sells around 1,200 vehicles annually in Brunei. In addition to the new mini-vehicle sized models, Boustead also announced plans to handle Suzuki motorcycles, with sales anticipated to begin around autumn 2026. Popular touring and leisure models like the Hayabusa and GSX-S1000GX are expected to be introduced.
Masafumi Harano highlighted Brunei's high vehicle ownership rate and the essential role automobiles play in daily life, aligning with Suzuki's philosophy of providing mobility solutions closely connected to people's lives. Lim Jin Lee of Boustead emphasized the 50-year partnership built on mutual trust and the enduring appeal of Suzuki's 'lightweight, small, and fun' vehicle DNA in the Brunei market.
