Range Rover has launched its first all-electric model, the Range Rover Electric, after a year-long delay. The vehicle, to be built in Solihull, West Midlands, represents a significant step in Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) electrification strategy. The launch is supported by investments in new battery and electric drive unit production lines at JLR's Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, alongside extensive training for approximately 10,500 staff. This development occurs as JLR navigates falling profits, supply chain disruptions, and the aftermath of a cyber attack, while also undergoing a restructuring that impacts fewer than 300 roles. Martin Limpert, managing director of Range Rover, stated the vehicle is the culmination of a decade of engineering and technological development. The luxury SUV can reach 60mph in 4.3 seconds and starts at £154,070.
