Belgian startup Any is aiming to disrupt urban mobility with its new modular electric motorcycle, the LUV1, designed to bridge the gap between cars and traditional two-wheelers by offering significant cargo capacity without compromising performance.
The LUV1 boasts a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and can carry up to 120 liters of cargo, addressing the need for practical transport of groceries, luggage, or equipment. Its modular design allows customers to customize features such as panels, windshields, and racks, catering to diverse needs from commuting to family use or outdoor activities.
Spearheaded by Lowie Vermeersch, former design director at Pininfarina, the LUV1's design has garnered attention since its unveiling at Milan Design Week. Vermeersch also serves as the startup's creative director and an investor, collaborating to pioneer a new category termed 'life utility vehicles' (LUVs).
With a starting price of €7,000 (approximately $8,150), the LUV1 is positioned to be more affordable than cars and comparable to high-end electric cargo bikes. It requires only an A1 license, making it accessible to a wider audience. The company has already received over 600 pre-orders, each requiring a refundable €49 deposit.
Any has raised €2.75 million ($3.2 million) in venture capital to date, including a recent €1.25 million top-up. The startup has also appointed Pieter Van de Velde as CEO and Alessandro Mangano as Head of Engineering, bringing experience from the automotive and venture capital sectors. The LUV1 is equipped with two swappable batteries providing a range of up to 87 miles.
The company is now seeking to raise €10 million ($11.65 million) or more in a Series A funding round to ramp up production for its first customer deliveries, expected by the end of the year. Any anticipates its cargo capacity will be its key differentiator in a market increasingly shifting towards electric two-wheelers.
