Meta is emphasizing its commitment to artificial intelligence with the release of its AI assistant, Muse, on iPad. The app, which debuted on iPhone and Android on September 8, is now available on a dedicated iPad application, marking a rapid expansion for the service.
Since its initial launch, Muse has garnered over 6.6 million installs, according to estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower. The AI agent is designed to help users manage various aspects of their digital lives, including emails, meetings, bills, and tasks such as booking reservations, ordering groceries, and making purchases. This functionality is enabled through "connectors" that allow users to link their various online accounts.
Meta has been actively expanding the list of available connectors for Muse. The recent iPad release includes additions for small businesses, such as Asana, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, QuickBooks, GitHub, Klaviyo, and Zoom, as well as connectors for Meta ad accounts. Additionally, retail partners like Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, and Wayfair have been integrated, enabling Muse to shop on their websites and complete transactions on behalf of users.
One challenge for AI agents interacting with e-commerce sites is being mistaken for bots and blocked. To address this, Meta announced on Tuesday that it is collaborating with industry partners to develop an open standard. This standard would allow personal AI agents to identify themselves to businesses, helping to differentiate legitimate agents from malicious bots.
