Nous Research, the startup behind the open-source Hermes agent, has secured $90 million in Series B funding, bringing its valuation to $1.5 billion. The round was led by Robot Ventures, with participation from notable investors including Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung, and 1789 Capital. This latest financing brings the company's total funding to $158 million since its inception three years ago.
The open-source Hermes agent has gained significant traction, with over 24 million clones and contributing approximately 2.5% of global AI token usage, according to the startup's estimates. The new capital will support Nous Research's strategic move into the enterprise market with "Hermes for Businesses." This new offering will enable companies to deploy customized AI agents capable of managing complex, multi-step workflows while ensuring data privacy and security.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Nous Research had approximately $36 million in annualized revenue by mid-September 2026 and anticipates surpassing $100 million in annualized revenue before the end of 2026.
