Women's health company Evvy announced on Tuesday that it has secured $40 million in Series B funding, with Catalio Capital Management leading the round. Launched in 2021 by Priyanka Jain, Laine Bruzek, and Pita Navarro, Evvy is known for its at-home CLIA-certified and CLEP-certified mNGS test that analyzes vaginal microbes via a single swab. Patients mail their samples to Evvy's lab for analysis, with results reviewed by clinicians registered on the platform and then posted to the patient's health portal. CEO Priyanka Jain stated that patients receive a diagnosis, clinical interpretation, and a clear path for next steps, including personalized prescription care when applicable. Evvy reports serving over 100,000 patients across the U.S. and collaborating with 3,000 practitioners, having generated 15 peer-reviewed publications and identified novel BV subtypes and hundreds of uncatalogued vaginal microbiome genomes. Jain emphasized the company's larger vision to build a dataset connecting microbiome biology, symptoms, interventions, and health outcomes to improve care and discover new biomarkers, addressing a perceived gap in high-quality, representative data on female bodies for precision medicine. Evvy launched EvvyAI in May, an AI assistant designed to translate microbiome data into real-time guidance for users. The company is also expanding into the fertility space, investigating links between vaginal microbiomes and infertility, gynecological cancer, preterm birth, IVF success rates, and recurrent pregnancy loss, building on a prospective study launched last year in IVF clinics. Other companies in the vaginal health space include JunoBio, TinyHealth, and Daye. Jain envisions Evvy eventually offering a new-age Pap smear alternative, providing non-invasive, data-rich insights into infections, inflammation, fertility, PCOC, endometriosis, premenopause, and HPV progression.
