A US attack on a residential home near the Iranian city of Sirik has resulted in four fatalities, including a child, according to Iran's Fars news agency, citing the Iranian Red Crescent Society. The attack, which occurred during a wedding celebration, also left over 50 people wounded, with ongoing rescue efforts.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it has commenced a "regretful response to the aggressors" following the US strikes. In its initial action, the IRGC claimed to have shot down an advanced MQ9 drone belonging to the US military using a new aerospace defence system.
Iranian state television had previously reported at least two deaths and several wounded at a wedding in Bandar Kuhestak, Sirik county, during the US attacks. A projectile also landed outside the runway of Jiroft airport in Kerman province, though no casualties or damage were reported.
The US military confirmed striking targets in Iran, citing attempted attacks on shipping. Iranian media reported explosions in multiple locations, including Asaluyeh, Jiroft, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Konarak, Chabahar, Jask, Sirik, and Lavan. Iran has vowed that the US will regret its actions and face severe punishment.
