US forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island on Sunday, the first known American strikes on the country since late July. The action followed observations of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Revolutionary Guards stated the attack resulted in casualties among fighters and civilians and vowed a response and punishment. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi called the attack a "strategic and fatal mistake by the Trump regime" and said the "enemy will pay the consequences of this miscalculation in both the economic and military fields." Iran's Tasnim news agency reported that two people were killed and two others injured in the strike, which it said was carried out by drones. Oil prices jumped more than 2% on Monday, with Brent crude futures climbing to $90.32 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude at $85.41 a barrel.
