Ukraine's General Staff reported on August 29 that Russia has lost approximately 1,485,200 troops since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, with 1,420 casualties sustained in the preceding 24 hours. The report also detailed significant equipment losses for Russia, including 12,310 tanks and 25,241 armored combat vehicles. Ukrainian forces conducted overnight operations striking Russian military targets in occupied territories, including drone storage and launch sites in Donetsk and Crimea, a command post in Donetsk Oblast, and an electronic warfare system in Crimea. The destruction of a Russian Buk-M3 missile system near Klintsy was also confirmed. Ukraine has not released its own casualty figures due to operational secrecy, but Western think tanks estimate Russian losses are substantially higher, with a casualty ratio of roughly 2.5:1 or 2:1. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in February that at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed in action.
