TypeSafe AI, the company behind the recently launched Jev AI model, has successfully raised $870 million, achieving a valuation of $7.5 billion. The funding round was spearheaded by Andreessen Horowitz, with contributions from Sequoia and DCVC.
Jev, which debuted on September 15, quickly gained traction, with TypeSafe AI reporting that a third of Fortune 500 companies are already utilizing the model. This rapid enterprise adoption is attributed to Jev's unique capabilities.
Unlike traditional large language models (LLMs), Jev is built on a transformer architecture but does not generate text. Instead, it produces "calibrated decisions" in the form of probabilities. The company highlights that Jev operates significantly faster and consumes fewer tokens than LLMs, positioning it as a tool for task automation rather than content generation.
TypeSafe AI was co-founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former researcher at OpenAI, along with Sasha Sheng, an ex-Meta research engineer, and engineer and entrepreneur Erik Gafni.
