Stellar MLS announced Wednesday its expansion into Hernando County, Florida, following the merger of the West Pasco Board of Realtors and the Hernando County Association of Realtors. As part of this consolidation, Stellar MLS will become the exclusive multiple listing service (MLS) provider for the newly formed West Pasco Hernando Realtors (WPHR), and the previous Hernando County single-association MLS will cease operations.
This strategic move extends Stellar MLS's service area to over 19 counties across Florida, establishing a continuous MLS coverage along the state's Gulf Coast from Charlotte County northward through Citrus and now Hernando counties. The MLS now serves more than 75,000 customers across 20 Realtor associations in Florida and Puerto Rico. The consolidation aligns with a broader trend of MLS rationalization nationally, driven by the pursuit of scale, technological investment, and standardized data, while navigating legal, regulatory, and cost challenges.
Shayne Fairley, CEO of Stellar MLS, expressed pride in the expansion, stating it would extend the reach of customers and the strength of the marketplace. Catherine “Cookie” Miller, president of WPHR, noted that the partnership is expected to provide WPHR's over 1,900 members with access to advanced technology, reliable market data, innovative tools, education, and support. WPHR CEO Brenda Rabbitt added that the decision was based on member feedback and a desire to broaden market reach, emphasizing the commitment to providing advanced resources and market connectivity for consumers and communities.
