MetroList, Northern Nevada Regional MLS (NNRMLS), and Oregon Data Share (ODS) have launched the Orion Real Estate Data Exchange, a new multistate data platform designed to give real estate professionals direct access to real-time listing information across large portions of California, Nevada, and Oregon. The initiative, first announced in early 2025, aims to create a modern, secure, and scalable data layer that supplements rather than replaces existing local multiple listing service (MLS) systems.
Orion enables data exchange among the participating MLSs and is built to accommodate additional MLS participants in the future. In its initial phase, the platform provides members of MetroList, NNRMLS, and ODS with access to listings across all participating markets within a professional user environment powered by Rapattoni. This shared data repository is expected to feed directly into primary MLS systems in a later phase.
ODS founders Tina Grimes, CEO of Southern Oregon MLS, and Casie Conlon, CEO of Cascades East MLS, stated that the name Orion reflects their vision for a "borderless, data-informed real estate ecosystem." They highlighted the objective to empower members with tools and access to serve clients who are migrating between the three states. Dave Howe, president and CEO of MetroList, added that Orion "breaks down MLS data barriers and promotes collaboration among our organizations in different states."
NNRMLS CEO George Pickard noted that the platform starts with practical access today while building infrastructure for deeper data sharing tomorrow. He explained that the first phase offers access to listing information in a familiar user environment, with the next phase integrating that data directly into each organization’s primary MLS system.
The Orion network is described as "data-first," focusing on unified access to multistate listing data, increased visibility into adjacent markets, and enhanced referral opportunities. According to U.S. Census Bureau data cited in the announcement, approximately 129,000 people moved among California, Nevada, and Oregon in 2024, with a significant portion of that movement along the I-80 and I-5 corridors. By connecting listing information, the MLSs aim to provide brokers and agents with better insight into client relocation patterns and strengthen referral connections.
