Russian forces killed at least two people and injured 27 others in attacks across Ukraine over the past day, with a passenger bus in Kramatorsk being struck by a drone. Local authorities reported the incidents on October 1-2.
In Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast, a passenger bus was hit by a first-person-view (FPV) drone around 7:08 a.m. on October 2, injuring two people. The Kramatorsk City Council stated that the bus was carrying passengers on its regular route during the attack.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 108 Shahed-type attack drones overnight, including 47 jet-powered versions and decoy drones. Ukrainian air defenses successfully shot down or suppressed 88 of these drones, though strikes occurred at 11 locations, and debris fell in five areas.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on October 2 that Russian strikes impacted apartment buildings in Kramatorsk and Sumy, and also affected Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Poltava, and Rivne oblasts. He noted specific hits on the Pivdennyi Bridge and a residential building in Kyiv, a kindergarten in Kherson, and a grocery store and institute in Kharkiv.
Regional reports detailed casualties: In Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed and four injured. In Kyiv, one person died and two were injured after a strike on a 25-story residential building. Kherson Oblast reported seven injuries, Kharkiv Oblast six injuries, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast four injuries in Pavlohrad. In Sumy Oblast, two men were injured by drone strikes. Zaporizhzhia Oblast reported 741 attacks on 51 settlements without civilian casualties.
