Russian forces killed at least five people and injured 30 others across Ukraine in attacks over the past day, local authorities reported on Oct. 4. The assaults included drone and glide bomb strikes on Sumy Oblast, as well as attacks in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Donetsk Oblasts.
Overnight, Russia launched 135 attack drones, including 52 jet-powered drones, according to Ukraine's Air Force. The Air Force stated that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 125 targets, comprising 123 Shahed-type, Gerbera, and other drones, along with two Banderol loitering munitions. Strikes were observed at five locations, and debris from downed targets fell at five others.
In Sumy Oblast, at least three people were killed and 16 others injured. A Russian drone attack on a warehouse storing medical supplies resulted in one fatality and three injuries, local authorities said. Additionally, Russian glide bomb attacks in Sumy and its surroundings injured 13 people, including a child, and damaged apartment buildings, homes, and vehicles.
In Kharkiv Oblast, two people were killed and five injured as Russian forces attacked Kharkiv and nine other settlements, utilizing FPV drones, Molniya drones, a Lancet drone, and a multiple-launch rocket system.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported three injuries from over 50 Russian attacks involving drones, artillery, and a glide bomb. Two individuals were hurt when a strike hit food warehouses in Pavlohrad, causing a fire, and a 34-year-old man was injured in the Nikopol district.
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, two people sustained injuries from Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia district, according to Ivan Fedorov, co-head of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Defense Council. The region experienced 745 Russian attacks against 47 settlements in the past day.
Kherson Oblast reported two injuries from Russian strikes on critical infrastructure and residential areas. In Donetsk Oblast, two people were injured in Sloviansk.
In Kyiv, a Russian drone struck the Northern Bridge on the morning of Oct. 4, impacting the roadway, stated Mayor Vitali Klitschko. This incident marked the fourth consecutive day of Russian targeting of bridges over the Dnipro River in the capital.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had deployed more than 1,900 attack drones, 1,700 glide bombs, and 25 missiles against Ukraine in the preceding week, with over 800 of the drones being jet-powered.
