Electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive is recalling approximately 100,700 vehicles due to a software issue that can obstruct the rearview camera display. The recall affects a majority of the company's produced vehicles, including certain 2022-2026 R1T pickup trucks, 2022-2027 R1S SUVs, and 2027 R2 models. This is considered a non-compliance matter involving US and Canadian rear-visibility safety standards.
Rivian stated that in rare instances when stability control is off, a safety prompt asking to re-enable stability control may overlap the rearview camera view when shifting into reverse until the vehicle moves. The company also noted that more than 95% of the affected vehicles have already received a software fix, and all vehicles produced after August 10, 2026, already include the updated software.
