Maryland-based DRB Group announced plans to establish two mortgage joint ventures in January 2027. The initiative aims to enhance the homebuying process for customers of DRB Homes and DRB Elevate 55+ by integrating dedicated mortgage services with its homebuilding operations. The eastern venture, DRB Mortgage, will be a partnership with Acrisure Mortgage, while the western venture, DRB Home Loans, will collaborate with Alta Home Lending.
This strategy is intended to improve contract-to-close rates, reduce transaction times, and provide a more predictable experience for buyers. For homebuilders, such captive or joint-venture mortgage structures are often employed to streamline sales and manage backlogs.
Ronny Salameh, president and CEO of DRB Group, appointed Matthew Wolf, senior vice president of financial services, to oversee the development of the mortgage strategy and the selection of partners. Wolf led a process to identify lenders with significant operational capacity, local market expertise, and a customer service model aligned with DRB's homebuilding platform. Salameh stated that the goal is to combine DRB's homebuilding strength with mortgage partners who understand their customers, markets, and the importance of consistent execution. Wolf added that the selected partners were chosen to provide a best-in-class mortgage experience.
