Jaguar Land Rover has officially launched the Range Rover Electric, a fully battery-electric version of its iconic luxury SUV. This new model aims to blend the brand's renowned comfort and off-road prowess with electric propulsion, marking a significant step in JLR's transition away from combustion engines.
The Range Rover Electric is designed to look nearly identical to its gasoline and plug-in hybrid counterparts, with subtle aerodynamic enhancements like a smoother front grille and more efficient wheels. The absence of tailpipes is the most apparent visual cue for the electric variant.
Built on JLR's powertrain-agnostic MLA architecture, the electric Range Rover weighs only slightly more than the V8 version due to the integration of its battery pack and dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors. These motors deliver a combined output of 542 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, offering performance comparable to the V8 model, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds.
