Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar visited New Delhi, meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The meetings, held on the sidelines of the 11th Niti Aayog Governing Council Meet, focused on Karnataka's development priorities and sought central government support for the state's aspirations. Shivakumar also visited Congress MLA K Shadakshari, who is undergoing treatment in a Delhi hospital, and wished him a speedy recovery. During his discussions with PM Modi, Shivakumar highlighted Karnataka's development needs, including infrastructure, investment, urban mobility, irrigation, innovation, and welfare initiatives. He described the talks as constructive and reaffirmed a commitment to accelerating the state's development, expressing optimism about collaborating with the Centre to build a 'stronger Karnataka.' Earlier, Shivakumar had also sought the Centre's support for Bengaluru's infrastructure, citing migration pressure and the city's role as India's technology hub. He noted that Karnataka accounts for over 40% of India's services exports and that approximately 40% of Bengaluru's residents are migrants. The state has identified infrastructure projects worth about Rs 1 lakh crore for Bengaluru.
