A six-year-old girl, P Vennela, has died, with her mother's live-in partner, Mohan GN, allegedly confessing to assaulting her after she spilled ice cream in their car. Investigators believe Mohan's actions, including hitting the child and forcefully covering her mouth to silence her crying, led to her death due to severe internal trauma and smothering.
Vennela was the daughter of Praveen, an educationist, and Priyanka, an advocate. Her parents had recently separated, and Priyanka began living with Mohan, a realtor and college friend, in a luxury residence in east Bengaluru. Mohan is currently in police custody, while Priyanka remains untraceable.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 24 while returning from an outing. According to Mohan's alleged confession, Vennela spilled ice cream, prompting him to hit her on the stomach and cover her mouth. A histopathology report later revealed internal injuries in the child's abdominal region.
Mohan was arrested on June 4 after Praveen filed a complaint accusing both Mohan and Priyanka of murder. Praveen resides in Davanagere with their elder daughter. Investigators are conducting advanced forensic testing on the multiutility vehicle used during the incident to corroborate Mohan's confession with physical evidence.
Further details revealed that Mohan is married with two children but had left his family to live with Priyanka since January.
