CertifID has acquired Closinglock, merging two Austin, Texas-based real estate technology companies focused on fraud prevention, secure payments, identity verification, and closing workflows. This marks CertifID's second acquisition in four months, following its purchase of CloseSimple in June. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
CertifID CEO Tyler Adams will lead the combined company, emphasizing a turning point in the industry due to evolving threats, including those posed by AI, and changing consumer expectations. He stated that the merger will allow the companies to tackle these challenges more effectively together than separately.
Closinglock co-founder and CEO Andy White, who will serve as chief strategy officer, noted that the leaders of both firms have a long-standing mutual respect and have stayed in contact for years. The discussions for the acquisition progressed from casual meetings to more formal conversations.
Both executives assured customers that there will be no immediate changes to their current product usage or integrations. Adams stated that customers will not be forced to choose one solution over the other or migrate their systems. White added that integrating the products is the responsibility of the combined company.
The merger is expected to enhance threat intelligence sharing across a broader customer base, allowing for quicker warnings and learnings regarding fraud. CertifID brings expertise in fraud prevention, insurance, and money movement, while Closinglock is recognized as a leader in money movement and digital payments for real estate transactions. The combined entity aims to leverage these complementary strengths to protect the industry from sophisticated fraudsters, particularly as AI tools become more accessible to malicious actors.
