Chinese electric truck and assisted driving startup DeepWay is seeking to establish a presence in the European market by licensing its technology to local partners, a company executive told Nikkei Asia. The company, which debuted its offerings at the IAA Transportation 2026 trade show in Hannover, Germany, on September 14, aims to leverage established European brands for local manufacturing.
DeepWay's strategy involves adapting its electric and intelligent vehicle technologies to meet Europe's mature road freight market and strict zero-emission regulations. The company presented its future product plans, including the DeepWay 3.0 heavy truck, which is scheduled for launch in Europe in 2027. This vehicle is being developed to comply with EU regulations and certifications, and will be tailored for European road and climate conditions, as well as local charging infrastructure.
Founded in 2020, DeepWay focuses on developing electric trucks with integrated battery systems and autonomous driving software. The company has already expanded its international business, delivering vehicles to overseas customers since 2024 and establishing sales and service channels in Southeast Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
