Lucid Motors and European ride-hailing platform Bolt announced on Thursday a partnership to deploy at least 25,000 self-driving robotaxis across Europe. The collaboration aims to accelerate the shift from pilot programs to commercial deployment in the emerging robotaxi market.
Bolt plans to integrate these autonomous vehicles into its fleet, with a broader goal of reaching 100,000 vehicles by 2035. The robotaxis will be built on Lucid's forthcoming mid-size EV architecture and are expected to utilize Nvidia's Hyperion autonomous-vehicle architecture. Both companies will work together to develop a vehicle platform capable of SAE Level 4 automation, allowing vehicles to operate without human intervention within defined conditions.
Bolt will be responsible for owning and operating the fleet, including securing necessary city partnerships. The announcement follows a restructuring at Lucid under new CEO Silvio Napoli, which included layoffs and a delay in the launch of its mid-size platform to the second half of 2027.
