Treble, an Iceland-based startup founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, has secured $18 million in an extension of its Series A funding round. The investment was led by Paladin Capital Group, with participation from existing investors KOMPAS VC, Frumtak Ventures, EIC, and Omega ehf. This latest funding brings Treble's total raised to over $40 million, following a $12 million investment in 2024. The company offers a simulation platform designed for the voice AI industry, catering to model makers, robotics companies, and consumer hardware manufacturers. Treble's clients include Amazon and Logitech.
The platform focuses on synthetic data generation for speech enhancement, noise suppression, and model training, as well as evaluating voice AI models under various conditions. Earlier this year, Treble partnered with Hugging Face to launch a benchmark for speech recognition models. Co-founder Finnur Pind highlighted the importance of data in audio AI, suggesting that accurate physics simulation can be an alternative to internet-scraped data for creating sound-related AI.
Treble also provides services for hardware design and testing, including virtual prototyping for headphones and speakers, and testing smart speaker command recognition. The company is expanding its simulation testing to smart glasses and other AI devices, with a particular interest in wearables that could enhance hearing. Treble plans to increase its focus on the physical AI space, including robotics, automotive, and drone companies, to enable sound-based functions through testing and simulation.
