Russian forces continued their attacks across different Ukrainian regions along the 1,200-km frontline on Monday, killing at least five people, regional officials said. The attacks targeted residential buildings and transport infrastructure.
In the northeastern Kharkiv Region, prosecutors said a drone strike on the town of Lozova killed one person and injured three. Further south in Dnipropetrovsk region, a drone killed a car driver in Nikopol, a frequent Russian target on the west bank of the Dnipro River. Oleksandr Hanzha, governor of the surrounding Dnipropetrovsk region, shared a photograph on Telegram showing a white vehicle with shattered windows and what appeared to be a trail of blood running down its side. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attack, saying, "There is no military logic to this, just another act of brutality," and called on the United States and Europe to tighten sanctions against Russia.
In Donetsk Region, a Russian strike badly damaged an apartment building in the strategic city of Kramatorsk, killing one person. Another person was killed in a nearby village. A sustained attack on a village in Mykolaiv Region near the Black Sea coast killed a 3-year-old child. The acting regional governor, Heorhii Reshetilov, said a Russian drone also struck a passenger train in the southern Mykolaiv region, forcing the evacuation of all 168 passengers and crew members.
Reuters could not independently verify attacks from either side. Both sides deny targeting civilians. Russia and Ukraine have increasingly traded strikes on logistics networks and other economic targets in an effort to disrupt each other's war effort and undermine morale.
