Russian forces continued their attacks across Ukraine on Sept. 26, resulting in at least six fatalities and 45 injuries, according to local authorities. The capital city, Kyiv, experienced a second consecutive day of intense strikes, with air raid alerts sounded multiple times and five individuals injured within the city. In the surrounding Kyiv Oblast, two more people sustained injuries in the Boryspil district.
Overnight, Russia launched 173 Shahed-type drones, including 50 that were jet-powered, targeting various regions. Ukrainian air defense systems managed to intercept 134 of these drones. Drone strikes were reported in 19 locations, and debris from downed targets fell in eight areas.
Beyond the capital region, significant casualties were reported in other oblasts. In Donetsk Oblast, two people were killed and eight injured in the town of Druzhkivka and surrounding areas. Zaporizhzhia Oblast saw two women killed and seven others injured. Sumy Oblast reported the death of a 69-year-old man from a drone attack, while guided-bomb strikes injured 10 people, including an infant and a teenager. Kherson Oblast reported one fatality and three injuries across 35 targeted settlements. In Kharkiv Oblast, four people were injured in the city and one in Zolochiv. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported four injuries in the Nikopol district, with two individuals hospitalized.
