Masked Israeli settlers attacked an NBC News team and a Palestinian woman on Saturday in Jalud, a village near Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The crew was interviewing Aida Ahmed Abdullah, 51, who had been forced from her home by settlers, when masked men armed with sticks jumped out of a car and began beating members of the crew and throwing rocks before fleeing.
Abdullah sustained non-life-threatening injuries and remained hospitalized. Four NBC staffers, including correspondent Matt Bradley, cameraman Khaldoon Eid, producer Lawahez Jabari, and their driver, were also injured, and their camera equipment and vehicle were damaged.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the "criminal acts of violence," stating that "a handful of rioters who violate the law" were responsible and that such actions "hinder the IDF in fulfilling its missions and harm Israel’s standing in the world." Israeli security forces intervened to restore order, remove rioters, and confiscated vehicles suspected of being used by the settlers.
In a separate incident, two elderly Palestinian sisters, Mona and Alia Mahmoud Hamed, aged 75 and 65, were injured after being attacked by Israeli settlers while picking figs from their land in Silwad, northeast of Ramallah. Settlers stole their mobile phones and vehicle keys.
According to UN data, 76 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers in the year up to July 24, while three Israelis were killed during the same period. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that Israeli forces and settlers carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their lands, and their properties in July, with Israeli forces responsible for 1,458 and settlers for 798.
Meanwhile, six Palestinians suffered suffocation from tear gas fired by Israeli forces during a raid on al-Fara'a refugee camp. Israeli forces also bulldozed Palestinian-owned land in Deir Ballut, while hundreds of settlers, accompanied by Israeli forces, raided Islamic religious sites in Awarta.
