Le Pen warns US diesel export ban would hit French citizens hard

The U.S. administration is reportedly contemplating a 90-day prohibition on diesel exports as a measure to curb domestic energy costs. However, warnings suggest that such a ban could significantly disrupt the bloc's fuel supply.

The European Union relies heavily on the U.S. for its diesel supply, importing over half of its needs from America. These imports have become even more critical in recent months due to supply disruptions stemming from the conflict in the Middle East and ongoing strikes affecting Russian oil refineries.

In response to the escalating fuel prices, Le Pen advocated for her proposal to reduce VAT on fuel. She argued that political leaders have a responsibility to implement necessary measures to prevent public unrest, drawing parallels to other European nations like Spain and Germany that have also cut fuel taxes amidst global oil price spikes.
