Daydream, an AI-powered fashion discovery app, has introduced two new features built with Apple's iOS 17 developer tools, allowing iPhone users to shop outfits directly from their saved photos and search for clothing using Siri without needing to open the app. These capabilities leverage Apple's image-context technology and Siri's natural language processing. The first feature enables users to upload images from their Photos app, which Daydream analyzes to identify individual clothing items and surface shoppable matches or similar styles from its catalog of approximately 3 million products. If an exact item is unavailable, the app suggests alternatives. It also supports requests for variations, such as changing the color of an item in an image. The second feature integrates with Siri, allowing users to make voice or text-based fashion searches, like asking for a blazer for a specific event. Daydream's CEO, Julie Bornstein, explained that these features can be further personalized through the app's 'Style Passport,' which collects user preferences on sizes, brands, style, and budget. Daydream positions these tools as steps toward its long-term goal of creating a comprehensive AI shopping agent that understands a user's style across all digital surfaces. The app, launched last year, currently serves over 1.5 million shoppers and features products from more than 325 retailers and 10,000 brands, including major names like Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, and Gucci.
