Daikin Industries is set to introduce an artificial intelligence tool to aid in the training of air conditioner maintenance technicians. This initiative is a response to a growing shortage of experienced engineers, occurring at a time when rising global temperatures are increasing the demand for cooling solutions.
The AI tool will be integrated into a wearable device, a development undertaken in collaboration with startup Fairy Devices. This move aims to streamline the inspection process and enhance the skills of technicians.
Beyond technician training, Daikin is also advancing its technology for data center cooling. The company has been developing successive generations of magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors, with the fourth generation currently in development. These compressors are specifically engineered to meet the higher chilled water temperature requirements of modern data centers, which differ significantly from those used in conventional applied air-conditioning systems.
Daikin's approach emphasizes internal development of key components, including motors and impellers, to control costs and ensure technological integration. The company's modular cooling systems are designed for speed, scalability, and reliability, catering to the evolving needs of data center operations, especially those supporting AI workloads.
