These text messages emerged as Morrison faced accusations of tailoring his testimony to aid Jones in an alleged assault case.
Prosecutor Georgina Wright presented evidence of text messages where Morrison expressed disdain for the Herald and McClymont, including a 2020 message to Jones stating, "Thank Christ you’re getting out [of Nine Entertainment]. Let them fall into a bag of shit." Morrison acknowledged a "long standing pejorative view" of the newspaper and admitted to extensive text communication with Jones, often being critical of the Herald and McClymont.
Morrison testified regarding a lunch where Jones is accused of indecently assaulting a younger employee. The complainant stated Jones instructed him to sit next to him and touched him inappropriately under the table.
