BRICS leaders adopted a joint declaration on Saturday calling for the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza and backing a two-state solution for Palestine. The declaration, released after the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New Delhi under India’s chairmanship, also stressed the need to tackle the root causes of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
The group expressed concern over increasing nuclear risks and emphasized the importance of upholding nuclear safeguards, safety, and security, particularly in armed conflicts. Additionally, BRICS leaders praised the ceasefire in Lebanon and urged the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for an end to hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
