AI startup Anthropic has entered into a six-year agreement to rent computing power from Nscale for $45 billion, according to a Bloomberg News report. The deal will utilize Nscale's flagship data center development in West Virginia and will be powered by Nvidia's Vera Rubin chips, a state-of-the-art system combining six chips.
This significant investment is aimed at securing the necessary capacity to meet an anticipated surge in demand for Anthropic's artificial intelligence products, including its AI coding tool, Claude Code. The agreement represents approximately 460 megawatts of power capacity and is expected to begin powering services in late 2027.
This deal is the latest in a series of compute partnerships for Anthropic, which has been aggressively scaling up its capacity over the past eight months to compete with rivals like OpenAI. Previous deals include a $10 billion agreement with Volta, a $5 billion deal with AMD, and a large computing deal with SpaceX. Anthropic has also expanded its relationships with Amazon, Google, and Broadcom.
