Alex Vidal has taken on the role of president at REMAX, viewing the merger with the cloud-based Real Brokerage as a significant opportunity. The companies, which announced their proposed merger in late April, officially combined in late August to form the Real REMAX Group.
Vidal, who previously led ERA Real Estate through its parent company's acquisition, noted that the integration of REMAX and Real is distinct due to their differing business models. He described Real as a virtual company with a RevShare and commission cap model, contrasting it with REMAX's franchise and fee-based system.
Despite initial criticism of the merger as an "odd couple," Vidal believes these differences are a source of strength. He likened the combination to offering options for both in-person and virtual race participants, allowing different agent needs to be met within the same group.
While Real REMAX Group CEO Tamir Poleg has stated that the brands will maintain their independent identities, many REMAX agents are enthusiastic about accessing Real's technology, including its reZEN, Leo, AI agents, and Real Wallet. Agents will not be mandated to use this technology.
