Tristen O'Brien, a 44-year-old AI educator and cybersecurity professional, has developed more than 150 AI agents to automate various aspects of his life, aiming to free up time for hobbies and family. After years of learning Python for automation, he found ChatGPT accelerated his efforts.
O'Brien employs a structured prompting technique he calls BIP (Braindump, interview, prompt), which involves detailing his needs, having the AI ask clarifying questions, and then generating a comprehensive prompt. He has built agents for research, education, news, product development, finances, home and family management, communication, his YouTube channel, and publicity.
While he has built numerous agents, he currently uses around 70. He has created a family AI bot, integrating services like Twilio and Claude, which helps his household manage calendars and make decisions like meal planning. He also acknowledges the importance of plug-ins connecting to services like Gmail and calendars for agent functionality.
To combat digital overload from managing so many agents, O'Brien has established a hierarchy, appointing himself as the chief human officer and designating an AI chief of staff to manage other director-level and worker agents. He has also developed a visual game world where he can monitor and interact with his agents.
O'Brien spends approximately $600 per month on AI subscriptions, noting that a personal-use-only scenario might be managed with a $200 Claude Max subscription. He expresses concerns about privacy but maintains a level of trust with AI services, similar to other online tools.
