Volkswagen's MOIA America, Beep launch robotaxi rides in Orlando

Volkswagen's autonomous mobility subsidiary MOIA America, in partnership with operator Beep, has commenced passenger rides in robotaxis in Orlando, Florida's Lake Nona community. This launch signifies MOIA America's initial passenger operations within the United States, as the deployment of autonomous ride services continues to expand nationwide. Invited passengers can utilize the Beep mobile application to summon rides, with designated pickup and drop-off points established along three distinct routes within Lake Nona. The integrated system is engineered to assist fleet operators in the deployment and management of autonomous transportation services. Paul DeLong, co-president of MOIA America, stated that each trip contributes to a better understanding of human interaction with autonomous transportation in everyday environments. The partnership between MOIA America and Beep aims to scale a fleet of up to 5,000 autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles across multiple U.S. markets over the next decade, focusing on public transit integration.
