US and Iran mediators announce Lebanon de-confliction mechanism

Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan announced the establishment of a de-confliction mechanism involving the US, Iran, and Lebanon, aimed at ensuring the cessation of military operations in Lebanon. This agreement was reached after the first session of talks, which also established a communication line for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days. A High Level Committee has been formed to oversee future negotiations, with a roadmap set for reaching a final deal within 60 days. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the progress as significant, noting potential waivers on oil and petrochemical exports, lifting of blockades, release of frozen assets, and a reconstruction plan for Iran, but stated the de-confliction cell would be the first 'real test' of these agreements. Technical talks are scheduled to continue throughout the week.
