Hezbollah lawmaker: Ceasefire meaningless with Israeli forces in Lebanon

A senior Hezbollah lawmaker has stated that a ceasefire with Israel is meaningless as long as Israeli forces remain in Lebanese territory, warning that any further aggression would be met with a response. The lawmaker asserted that the right to self-defense is established and not subject to negotiation, highlighting Iran's military and diplomatic support as crucial for compelling Israel's withdrawal.

This comes as Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi accused the Trump administration of violating a memorandum of understanding by continuing military operations, citing a US naval blockade and Israeli actions in Lebanon as evidence. Azizi warned of significant consequences for these alleged violations. Iran's deputy foreign minister, Saeed Khatibzadeh, indicated that Tehran would continue negotiations if the US demonstrates commitment to the agreement and ensures Israel's adherence to its terms, also warning that Israel's continued military actions would have serious and immediate repercussions.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson stated that Iran has adhered to its commitments and that the U.S. is obligated to force Israel to stop attacking Lebanon. According to figures from US Central Command, the US naval blockade is estimated to cost Iran $500 million daily, which Iran has characterized as a potential precursor to a ceasefire violation. An Iranian delegation is set to travel to Switzerland to demand the fulfillment of US commitments, particularly their obligation to force Israel to stop attacking Lebanon.
