Two people were killed in an attack at a school in Gosen-Neu Zittau, near Berlin, with a suspect being detained, according to local newspaper Maerkische Allgemeine.
In a separate incident in Berlin, a 38-year-old man identified as Berhan S. stabbed two girls, aged seven and eight, at the Protestant School in Neukölln. The suspect reportedly climbed over a fence and attacked the children while they were playing. He then calmly waited for police to arrive and was arrested. Prosecutors requested he be placed in a psychiatric hospital, citing apparent mental disorders. The suspect has a history of alleged crimes, including a stabbing in 2009.
Separately, two custodians, a 48-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, were killed in a shooting at Mark Twain Elementary School in Chicago. Police recovered a weapon at the scene, and no students were present during the incident.
