U.S. President Donald Trump has requested that Apple change the name of Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' on its maps application, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum confirmed. Burgum stated that Trump reached out directly to Apple. Competitor Google Maps has already updated its U.S. users' maps to label the body of water as 'Lake America', citing Trump's executive order and the U.S. Geographic Names Information System. Lake Ontario is situated between the U.S. state of New York and Canada's Ontario province.
Separately, a 17-year-old North Carolina girl, Sarah Lindsey Santiago, was indicted by a grand jury on suspicion of aiding and abetting the May 18 shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego that killed three men. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill stated that Santiago faces potential life in prison without parole if convicted in North Carolina. Investigators allege Santiago agreed to livestream the attack, disseminate the attackers' manifesto, and justify the attack. The attackers, 17-year-old Cain Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Vazquez, died by suicide after fleeing the scene. Investigators believe the pair also intended to attack a Jewish temple and a predominantly African American high school.
