Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes to move to halfway house next year

In 2022, Holmes was sentenced to over 11 years in prison for defrauding investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Theranos falsely claimed its technology could detect numerous diseases from small blood samples. Her prison term has been reduced multiple times, and she is expected to be released in February 2030.

US District Judge Edward Davila noted in court filings that Holmes's revised sentence still reflects a just punishment for her serious offenses. Holmes plans to reside in Austin, Texas, after her release.

Renewed interest in Holmes has been fueled by comedian Nathan Fielder's upcoming documentary, "You Can See Everything," which explores her life and incarceration. Additionally, reports surfaced in May that Holmes's partner, Billy Evans, had raised millions for a new medical testing startup, sparking speculation about Holmes's post-prison plans.
